Developing The Arc into a More Powerful Organization by Increasing Collaboration, Coordination and Community Organizing

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

To become a more powerful organization, the chapters of The Arc need to cultivate leadership from people with disabilities and their families, and reduce "disability silos" by collaborating with non-traditional partner organizations. Following the presentation by Mary Gonzales, a panel of State and Local Executive Directors will respond to her remarks and discuss how their chapters' advocacy has impacted their elected officials and community.

Takeaways:

  • Creating relationships – the pre-requisite to effective community building
  • Moving from "maintaining an agency" to 'creating a powerful community"
  • Defining elements of a Power Organization
